Knockout mice are born at the expected Mendelian rate, but high lethality is observed within 48 hours from birth. Surviving mice are smaller than wild-type animals, have several neurological defects, impaired motor activity, and deficits of working memory. The cerebral cortex is thin and lateral ventricles are enlarged.
