11944 Q64436 ATP4A_MOUSE Potassium-transporting ATPase alpha chain 1 (EC 7.2.2.19) (Gastric H(+)/K(+) ATPase subunit alpha) (Proton pump) DISRUPTION PHENOTYPE Mutant mice are born at the expected Mendelian rate. They develop achlorhydria, hypergastrinemia and ciliated metaplasia. The parietal cell viability or chief cell differentiation are normal when compared to wild-type littermates. Mutant parietal cells have abnormal morphology characterized by dilated canaliculi with few microvilli, spherical vesicles rather than normal tubulovesicles and enlarged mitochondria filled with concentric cristae. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:10764766}.
