74187 | Q8BG40 | KTNB1_MOUSE | Katanin p80 WD40 repeat-containing subunit B1 (Katanin p80 subunit B1) (p80 katanin) | DISRUPTION PHENOTYPE | Homozygous loss of the gene is embryonic lethal. Mutant animals have dramatically reduced body size, reduced limb bud outgrowth, microphthalmia to anophthalmia and forebrain abnormalities ranging from microcephaly to holoprosencephaly. Brains of mutant mice have reduced cycling and proliferating radial neuroepithelial progenitor cells compared to wild-type, with a more profound loss of cells that depend upon asymmetrical cell divisions. These cells also show evidence of increased apoptosis. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:25521379}. |
